Biography

Ren Anyi (born 1994, China) is an artist living in Paris.

Ren’s primary medium is photography, which occupies a central place in her life. She focuses on the immediate present, guided by intuition rather than logic. Her subjects are diverse but closely connected with her personal experiences and enlightenment from the surrounding world. Since moving to Paris in December 2022, Ren began to explore more medium other than photography- painting, installation, music, etc.

Over the past decade, Ren’s photographic work has been well recognized in China, published in magazines such as Vogue, Numero, T Magazine, and has been exhibited internationally. Her first solo exhibition took place at 10 Corso Como Shanghai in 2018.

As a curator, Ren founded Diving Art Space in Shanghai in 2019, a non-profit art organization providing a space for local artists to communicate and collide with each other. This space combines living and exhibition spaces, with a focus on showcasing emerging artists. She regards it as her art space project other than simply an art space, which is more like her way to communicate and express.

As a musician, Ren has performed in Heim Shanghai, Kwia Berlin, etc.

As a multi-identity queer artist, Ren has been interviewed and featured in magazines such as T, i-D, Nylon, Wonderland, Vogue, and more.
